Mesocco is the northernmost municipality of the Val Mesolcina: the village itself sits at 769 metres, but the municipality climbs to the pass and takes in eleven hamlets — among them Andergia, Anzone, Cebbia, Crimeo, Darba, Deira, Leso, Logiano, Pian San Giacomo, San Rocco and San Bernardino.
Above the village stands the castle of Mesocco, documented since 1219, with the church of San Carpoforo inside it: one of the largest fortified complexes in Switzerland, and the reason a good many people stop here instead of driving straight on to the pass.
A municipality shaped like this — scattered across eleven hamlets and a thousand metres of altitude — has an orientation problem the others do not: saying «we are in Mesocco» does not tell anyone where you are.

Eleven hamlets, and a site that says where you really are
If your workshop is in Pian San Giacomo and the site says only «Mesocco», people coming from outside get lost — and people searching «Pian San Giacomo» never find you. In a municipality this scattered, the map and the hamlet name are not a detail: they are the address.
Then there is the castle-and-pass audience: people who drive up, look, eat and move on. They do not come back, but they decide everything the same day, phone in hand, a few kilometres from you.
